Web Designer

Job Description

Web designers create the pages, layout, and graphics for web pages, and play a key role in the development of a website. Web designers have the task of creating the look and feel of a website by choosing the style, and by designing attractive graphics, images, and other visual elements, and adapting them for the website’s pages. Web designers also design and develop the navigation tools of a site. Web designers may make decisions regarding what content is included on a web page, where things are placed, and how the aesthetic and continuity is maintained from one screen to the next. All of this involves skill and training in computer graphics, graphic design, and in the latest in computer and web technology ( from Wikipedia.org )
The tasks / responsibilities are the following:

• CSS encoding
• template design – in HTML and PSD format
• image enhancement, if necessary
• overall look and feel of the site – user interface and usability, screen shots of a web application
• research and improvement of design quality
• template development

Required skills

A web designer is expected to be proficient in the following applications / skills:

• Adobe Dreamweaver (version MX 2004 or higher)
• Adobe Photoshop (7.0 or higher)
• XHTML, JavaScript, AJAX, CSS, and JQuery
• Other related applications – Adobe Illustrator, Corel DRAW, etc.

Web Developer / Programmer

Job Description

A web developer is a software developer or software engineer who is specifically engaged in the development of World Wide Web applications, or distributed network applications that are run over the HTTP protocol from a web server to a web browser. Many web developers are also skilled in web design, information architecture, usability engineering, web content management systems, web server administration, and search engine optimization. The task / responsibilities are the following:

• HTML and CSS encoding
• Template usage
• Database design – MS Access, MSSQL, MySQL
• Front-end and back-end scripting / development
• Uploading

Required skills

A web developer must be proficient in the following:

• Front-end scripting language – JavaScript, AJAX, JQuery
• Back-end scripting language –PHP and MVC Framework
• Database design – MS Access, MSSQL, MySQL
• HTML and CSS

With basic knowledge in:

Quality Assurance / Tester

Job Description

The role of the quality assurance is to make sure that the website is ready enough to be uploaded on the live server. He / She make sure that the website is free from usual bugs / mistakes such as broken links, typographical errors, usability problems to critical problems like connection error, script malfunction and database permissions. In some cases, the quality assurance assists in debugging and website revisions.
The task / responsibilities are:

• Participate in design meetings with the Project Management
• Development group and clients to analyze functional specifications
• Manually test new system software
• Attend project meetings to report on status of testing, communicate issues, implement QA standards and policies
• Communicate QA schedule
• Help in debugging and revising web pages
• Web-related security testing
• Front-end scripting language – Javascript, AJAX
• Back-end scripting language – ASP, PHP, ASP.NET 2.0
• Database design – Ms Access, MsSQL, MySQL
• HTML, CSS and DIV
